"Inventive"

"It has always been a challenge for me to continue being curious for a little bit longer, to continue asking questions, to look for alternatives, because there are frequently other solutions than the most obvious ones. Only too often a company is hindered by self-imposed limitations: you are only allowed to recommend products from your catalogue, although you know very well that the best solution is readily available elsewhere, or that you can have it manufactured easily.

After working for 23 years in the opto-mechanical business, I know the ins and outs of the industry. It has always been my dream to have my own company, and offering the best of everything to business relations, also if it can be bought elsewhere, and really helping your relations by giving them expert advice.

My ultimate goal is providing a solution that is right in every way, not a badly fabricated device only featuring your own products. And this is much easier to achieve with an independent company than as a Benelux office of some global player or other: sometimes by cooperating with a supplier, sometimes by looking for new partnerships, and sometimes by referring your customer to another supplier that can offer a more suitable solution. So in the end, what matters is being inventive in finding solutions that really provide added value to your customers. If you really set your mind to it, you can achieve much more than you think!

For example, we are quite proud of the fact that the catalogues of a number of our suppliers contain products that were originally put to paper by ALT in response to a specific customer query, and have now become a standard product. Inventiveness coupled to transparency turns out to be a rock-solid asset: a fair solution for a fair price.

Our customers appreciate this added value: our company is growing year on year. For me, this challenge provides such a stimulus again and again, that my “work” is something that I will keep on doing with great pleasure."
