TMC STACIS LaserTable-Base dramatically improves Vibration Isolation Attainalbe with Optical Tables

The LaserTable-Base™ is the latest addition to the STACIS ® iX product line of piezo-active systems for vibration-isolation. This technology constitutes a considerable improvement compared to the standard pneumatic systems with height regulation that are used for the vibration-isolation of an optical table.

Though very effective in the isolation of high frequencies, these passive systems amplify vibration precisely in the critical range from 1 to 3 Hz because of their own resonance frequency . TMC's STACIS technology eliminates this limitation by means of a patented technology that contains piezo-actuators and sensors to isolate vibrations in the ultra low (to sub-hertz) frequency range.

The STACIS iX LaserTable-Base combines these two technologies, air and STACIS, in an integrated system. The result is vibration-isolation at ultra low frequencies, but also an exceptional isolation at high frequencies owing to the combined effect of the two serially structured isolation systems.

Furthermore, the STACIS iX product line has been improved compared to the original STACIS technology by making use of long stroke piezos (for the worst floors) and through a design with less actuators, which has made the system cheaper.

The upper, pneumatic part of the STACIS iX LaserTable-Base is modular and interchangeable. It can accommodate the conventional TMC Gimbal Piston™ isolators, MaxDamp ® Isolators, or a rigid, non-isolating frame.
