PI Microscopy stages with Direct Drive piezo technology

PI is well known for it's extensive range of Microscopy Stages. With the PINano™ productline, PI has build up a reputation in the microscopy Life Science market over the last years.

Several Life Science applications like Single Molecule Tracking require fast motion but do not require 200 μm of travel range. To meet these specs a direct driven PInano™ Trak stage was designed that has smaller
travel range but higher resonant frequency and dynamics when compared to the 200 μm version P-545.3R7. Form factor wise the well established dimensions of the PInano™ P-545.3R7 and P-545.2R7 have been used to guarantee:
a.) compatibility to PI's M-545 stage and the inverted high end microscopes,
b.) compatibility to PI's P-545 accessories.

These direct driven PI stages are specifically targeted towards tracking applications that require fast step and settle times but typically have no problem to accept a somewhat lower travel range. The key market for this is Single Molecule Research.

Key advantages of the Direct Drive PInano™ piezo stages:
- 24-bit USB, high-speed RS-232 as well as TCP/IP interface come standard with the controller, allowing real time applications,
- Linearization controller option for better positioning accuracy,
- Notch filters suppressing resonant frequencies for higher dynamics,
- PICMA® ceramics inside – highest reliability and life time – also when exposed to high levels of humidity,
- The slide holder is near the bottom of the stage, bringing it closer to the objective with inverted microscopes. This means the objectives / turret do not need to “enter” the free aperture of the piezo stage so there is less risk of mechanical interference.
