Gentec EO Mach 5 High Speed Digital Joulemeter

Gentec-EO has recently introduced the Mach 5 high speed digital joulemeter. The Mach 5 project started with a challenge from several Gentec-EO customers who were using pulsed DPSS lasers in the 30 kHz to 50 kHz range and didn't have a practical way of measuring pulse energy in real time. Many of the applications for these lasers required accurate delivery of pulse to pulse energy and a need to know that every pulse was above a process energy threshold and that no pulses were missing. So Gentec-EO got to work on this challenge.

The Gentec-EO development of the Mach 5 involved two major technological challenges. The first task was to develop a family of high speed Pyroelectric probes that could be used at >100 000 Hz to measure energy. The second was the development of fast digital electronics that could capture every pulse, store it (about 4 million data points in 40 seconds) and then download this data to a PC in a hurry to make room for the next set!

Here are some things you can do with the Gentec-EO Mach 5 kHz Energy Meter:
- Accurately measure every pulse at up to 130 000 Hz
- Capture and store up to 4 million pulses, that's 40 seconds of data at 100KHz
- Measure energy, frequency, average power and pulse jitter
- Measure the number of missing pulses or pulses below an energy threshold that you set
- Display your energy data in a strip chart, histogram or statistics window
- Log test data to a file for analysis later
- Set up an automated "Life Test" for your laser, just push start and walk away
