ALT adds NKT Photonics / Koheras Laser to it's program

ALT is the abbreviation for " Applied Laser Technology". In order to give the "L" for Laser a new dimension, we are proud that as per 1 January 2010 ALT is representing NKT Photonics from Denmark.


For those who have not yet heard of NKT Photonics: this company is the discoverer and sole producer in the world of Photonics Crystal Fiber (PCF). This type of glass fiber has a so-called "hollow core" structure. With this structure it is, for example, possible to produce glass fiber with an extreme non-linear behavior. Such fibers are a vital component of a Supercontinuum White Light source. Through this product, which at the time went under the name of "Koheras", NKT photonics became an established brand.

With the addition of NKT Photonics, ALT's product offering is extended with:
- the "SuperK family" Supercontinuum White Light sources,
- an extensive family of fiber lasers from Koheras Laser.

NKT Photonics distinguishes itself through its vertically integrated product offering. The most critical component, the PCF, is manufactured entirely in-house in the Danish town of Birkerød. The Supercontinuum White Light sources and Fiber Lasers of Koheras are also wholly developed and manufactured by the company itself.

By adding NKT Photonics to its product offering, ALT represents yet another top brand and market leader. This is fully in line with the company’s philosophy. We look forward to a long-lasting and close cooperation!
